#1 - Techs Me!

My name is Mia Malit-Cruz. I was born and raised in the Philippines and am currently studying Vocal Performance at Brigham Young University-Hawaii, with minors in Education and Psychology. I like singing, anime, and pizza, but the way to my heart would be triple chocolate brownie fudge ice cream or a date to a local museum.

Technology and Me

As a millennial, I claim to have been born during the perfect time of technological advancements. I was a witness to how technology has enhanced humanity's quality of life but also to how its misuse can lead to disconnect, frustration, and heartbreaks. As a Filipino studying in the US, I am indebted to technologies that allow me to communicate with my family back home with just a click or a tap. As a college student during the global pandemic of 2020, I have seen the crucial role technology played to enable students and professors to continue receiving and facilitating education despite the limitations on physical gatherings. As a musician, I am grateful for technologies that allow music to be transcribed, recorded, played, amplified, and preserved.

Looking Forward

My career goals include becoming an educator and administrator. I decided to take EDU 305 Computer and Technology Assisted Instruction to learn and understand how computers and related technologies are currently being used and how they can potentially be used to enhance instruction in education and training. I look forward to acquiring the knowledge, skills, and principles essential for creating a school environment that is fun, creative, expressive, and highly conducive to learning. I also look forward to creating an online record and compilation of my insights, work, and experiences, in hopes that it will benefit those who might be experiencing the same circumstances. Dr. F.B. Marshall is amazing, and I can't wait to discover more about myself through this class!
